poached pears & chocolate sauce

poached pear w/ chocolate saucethis is by far my favourite dessert.  i am not a huge fan of fresh pears, but love them poached.  and as for the chocolate sauce, it could make almost anything taste better!

this dessert is the best winter comfort food, and is relatively quick, easy and inexpensive to make.

cherry chocolate cake

STOP! stop what you are doing, turn on the oven, and bake this cake.  it is delicious!  not too sweet for a chocolate cake, the cherries are not too overpowering and the base is a little crunchy (not like a cheese cake - i am not really a fan of those bases) which adds some texture.  i found the recipe in delicious (care of maggie beer) - although tweaked it a little so i could use real dark chocolate instead of cocoa. i made this for the first time on the weekend, and will be making it again this weekend… if i can wait that long!

roast pumpkin wonton ravioli w/ chorizo & thyme

i found the idea for cheat’s ravioli in valli little’s recipe book ‘faking it - how to cook delicious food without really trying’. wonton ravioli is a happy meduim - a great alternative to making pasta from scratch if you are time poor, and beats store bought ravioli hands down.  i will definitely be making this again! my biggest critics (one of whom is great at making fresh pasta) also agree.
